We are currently seeking a Health & Wellness Specialist to join our Mental Health, Disabilities, and Health Services Team. This full-time role supports the healthy development of children enrolled in Early Head Start, Head Start, and school-age programs, while also fostering the physical and emotional wellness of our staff and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and ensure timely completion of child health requirements including physicals, dental exams, and sensory screenings through community partnerships and some direct service
- Collaborate with Family Advocates to ensure children are up-to-date on all required health services
- Facilitate team staffings and develop Individual Child Health Action Plans in collaboration with education and health staff
- Support families in understanding and responding to their child’s specific health conditions and care needs
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation
- Monitor classrooms for compliance with health, hygiene, and safety practices
- Maintain and restock first aid kits and health/safety backpacks at all sites
- Provide coaching and training to staff on health and safety procedures, illness identification, exclusion protocols, PPE usage, and emergency response
- Administer emergency medications such as EpiPens and inhalers when needed
- Support the planning and implementation of family and staff health events and initiatives
- Facilitate weekly Wednesday Staff Wellness activities and promote a culture of workplace well-being
- Ensure alignment with Head Start Performance Standards, program policies, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Experience in health services, nursing, public health, or related field (CMA, LPN, or health education background welcomed)
- Understanding of child health and development, preventive screenings, and community resources
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and work respectfully with diverse families
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
- Must meet all Head Start/Early Head Start health, background, and training requirements
