General Description

The program facilitator position includes facilitating interactive learning, following the evidence-based program curriculum LoveNotes for youth at schools & other community sites ages 12-19 to fidelity (virtually and in-person), recruiting, completing assessments and reports. The facilitator will create and maintain partnerships with local organizations/schools in order to implement programming in the schools and community. Participants include youth who have voluntarily enrolled in prevention programming, which is offered throughout the year in a variety of settings. Facilitators receive training and ongoing support, skill building and best practices. Facilitator position available for our relationship education (sexual education) program. Facilitator will help with recruitment of Peer Coach/Leadership participants.

Summary Of Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitates (virtual or in-person) classes and workshops utilizing evidence-base program curriculum and activities with a strong emphasis on program fidelity.
  • Creates a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for both youth and adults while using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Assists Program Coordinator in all recruitment efforts.
  • Recruits for Peer Coach/Leadership participants.
  • Provides accurate and age-appropriate responses to participant questions.
  • Offers participants the opportunity to ask questions during breaks and after sessions.
  • Responsible for planning, promoting, and directing a schedule of activities for weekly sessions.
  • Leads and instructs activities.
  • Completes necessary grant reporting documentation and turns it in on time.
  • Reports problems and recommends actions to the Program Director.
  • Maintains safety and discipline of the participants during the program.
  • Supervises and cares for equipment.
  • Documents incidents as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of program participants.
  • Prepares the meeting room for the session and restores the room at the conclusion of the session.
  • Informs program coordinator of needed supplies.
  • Obtains required training in curriculum, data collection and other identified opportunities.
  • Contributes to the program by sharing best practices and successful approaches.
  • Assists the Program Director, in building and maintaining relationships in the community.
  • Participates in community events, activities, and conferences, as needed.
  • Provide support with recruitment, tabling and attending recruitment opportunities as needed.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings, team meetings, and training.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School degree required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
  • 1 year directly related experience working directly with youth preferred.
  • At least 1-year experience as a group facilitator and working knowledge of classroom management techniques preferably working with both adults and youth.
  • Ability to create a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for both youth and adults while using a trauma informed approach.
  • Knowledge of sexual health, trauma informed approaches, positive youth development, youth-friendly referrals, classroom management, LGBTQIA Inclusivity, Mandatory Reporting, and other components critical to providing a safe and supportive environment for youth preferred (for sexual education grants).
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and effective prevention strategies in the fields of suicide, substance use, school dropout, and violence including bullying preferred.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills. Exercises discretion in acquiring and disseminating confidential and proprietary information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to effectively work with the general public, clients and staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of database management systems.
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work with people from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
  • Meets department performance/productivity standards.
  • Must be able to be certified in CPR/First Aid.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, clean MVR report, insurance and vehicle and no more than 2 moving violations in the past 39 months.
  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a Class 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Ability Requirements

  • Office and facility-based work with frequent sitting, standing, writing and computer usage.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and move through a facility.
  • Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • The pay rate for this position starts at $18.50-$20.50 per hour.
  • The nature of the position involves a fast-paced working environment with multitasking of many different duties and tasks. General daily priorities may change at a moment’s notice and the position requires quick response time and flexibility.
