Pay Range: $95,680.06 -$122,114.70

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Director at Chief Seattle Club (CSC) is responsible for overseeing and developing the behavioral health program, managing day-to-day operations, staff, and the delivery of services to ensure alignment with CSC’s values and mission to support urban Native people. This position leads the creation and enhancement of trauma-informed, culturally relevant, and client-centered services, while fostering collaboration with internal teams and external partners to advance holistic wellness. The Behavioral Health Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with CSC Leadership to ensure program effectiveness and compliance. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation and daily management of behavioral health programs, ensuring services reflect CSC’s core values of respect, community, and cultural integrity.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support behavioral health staff, including providing feedback, performance evaluations, and opportunities for professional development.
  • Develop and monitor program goals, objectives, and outcomes to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed care for clients.
  • Coordinate with CSC leadership and the Behavioral Health Officer to ensure program compliance with legal, regulatory, and funding requirements.
  • Facilitate partnerships with community organizations, tribal entities, and local agencies to enhance behavioral health services and resources.
  • Support grant writing, reporting, and budget management for behavioral health programs in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Officer and administrative team.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with confidentiality and privacy standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of self-care and wellness among staff, recognizing the impact of secondary trauma and supporting access to resources.
  • Actively participate in safety committee meetings, completion of trainings, ensure timely communication of safety updates, and provide leadership and support during emergencies in alignment with organizational protocols. 
  • Represent CSC at community meetings and events as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives to advance CSC’s mission.

  • Perform other duties as situation requires or as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Education: Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, Behavioral Health, or related field required.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in behavioral health or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or program management role.

Licenses/Certifications: Current, valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Psychologist certification in the State of Washington, or ability to obtain within four (4) months of hire.

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health principles, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive practices, especially as they relate to Indigenous and urban Native communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, and develop staff in a collaborative, supportive environment.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in all situations.
  • Competence in program planning, data collection, and quality improvement processes.
  • Familiarity with local community resources, tribal systems, and social service networks.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze program data and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant privacy laws.

  • Experience with grant writing and management.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with regular exposure to community members who may be experiencing trauma.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods and occasionally move about inside the office to access files, equipment, or meet with staff and clients.

Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma. Employees are encouraged to seek external support and maintain self-care when working indirectly or directly with clients. Mental health care referrals for employees is available.
