RN, LVN, or caregiver

We are looking ideally for an LVN or RN but also will take the right caregiver to provide care for a 46 year old man named Cheyne who underwent a traumatic brain injury about 13 years ago. He is currently living with his mother and needs assistance for 12 hr shifts Saturday and Sunday and one week day which can be chosen. The shifts are preferably 7am-7pm, but also could be 8am-8pm and we are open to hiring someone if they can only do 8 hrs, but 12 is preferable.

Cheyne is not able to speak clearly, but is able to understand and comprehend what is going on around him and follow cues. He needs one person assistance with all activities of daily living and uses a g-tube for fluids and medicines and eats food with assistance. He is mostly in his wheelchair, but is able to walk with trained staff for short distances. You will be in charge of transferring, toileting, bathing, hygiene, feeding and otherwise engaging with Cheyne during the day. Light meal prep is necessary at times. 

Cheyne loves to get out and explore the world, but is also happy to be home working on therapies. He laughs a lot, has a childish humor, and is very loving. It can be a difficult job at times due to his difficulty expressing himself and his high physical needs, but it is a very rewarding job to impact someone so personally and positively.

We prefer to hire someone with brain injury or cognitive impairment experience.

If you take this job and are an RN or LVN we will have you sign up with one of the medi-cal covered local home care agencies (likely Prime Home Health) who will provide you with insurance/benefits and $30/hr if you are an LVN who does overtime or  $32/$34 per hour if you do not do overtime. RN's are paid $35/hr if you do overtime, and $40/hr if you do not do overtime. We are able to pay an additional $10/hr via check to raise your pay because we really value our nurses/caregivers.  If you are a caregiver you will need to sign up with IHSS and be reimbursed through them at $19/hr and depending on your experience we can pay you an extra $8/hr on top of that. Depending on how many hours you work, IHSS will also provide benefits.
