Minimum 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED; one year of related work experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have good written and oral communication skills, organizational skills and the ability to perform physically demanding work including but not limited to lifting 25 - 50 pounds, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods of time, squatting, bending, and stooping.
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the preceding twenty-four months, or one major violation of six demerit points with the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background investigation (including polygraph exam), and education/degree verification required.
This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
Duties
This part-time position is responsible for successfully picking up, delivering, screening and sorting all mail and supplies to county departments, external mail vendors and internal divisions of the Sheriff's Office to include the jail facility. Performs other work as required.
Shift
28 hours/week; Monday - Friday; approximately 6:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
