Head Start Preschool Assistant- Gordon Early Literacy Center

A vacancy currently exists for a full-time Head Start Preschool Assistant within the Head Start Program in the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This is a 190-day position, working with preschoolers at the Gordon Early Literacy Center in Coatesville, PA.

Qualifications

• CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Edcuation required within 2 years of hire
• Previous exprience working in a childcare/preschool setting strongly preferred
• Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
• Current (within one year) police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required upon hire
• Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)
• NSOR Clearance upon hire
• If hired without an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA, employees must fulfill an educational requirement to obtain their CDA within 2 years of hire*
  
  

Duties & Responsibilities

• To assist the Child Development Specialist in planning and executing early childhood activities
• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with adults and children
• Assist the teacher in carrying out the duties of caring for children
  
  

Salary Range

PRJ, Based on years of experience in a relevant position

The Head Start pay scale is broken down below for reference:

• 0 - 4 yrs experience = $17.30
• 5 - 10 yrs experience = $18.37
• 11 - 16 yrs experience = $19.46
• 17 - 22 yrs experience = $20.53
• 23 - 28 yrs experience = $21.62
• 29 - 35 yrs experience = $22.70
  
  

Schedule

7.5 hours per day (8 AM - 4 PM); 5 days per week; 190 days a year
