Anticipated vacancies for (5) Behavior Mentors currently exist within the Student Services Division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. These positions will be located at the Child & Career Development Center- CCDC Great Valley Campus in Malvern, PA. Summary Of Position

The primary role of the behavior mentor is to implement proactive, evidence-based strategies both individually with students and with staff by modeling strategies. The behavior mentor works collaboratively with classroom staff to implement Positive Behavior Support Plans, collect data on current IEP goals and interventions, and communicate noted trends to classroom staff. The behavior mentor works in conjunction with the Behavior Analyst.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Students:
    • Implement universal expectations and follow established consequences for all students, while implementing strategies and individualized modifications for all students with specific programming.
    • Work independently with students to provide opportunities to reinforce and practice newly taught replacement behaviors.
    • Work independently with students to generalize learned replacement behaviors to new learning environments.
    • Support students placing themselves or others in imminent risk by implementing personal emergency interventions, after having been trained and demonstrating competency in the skills.
  • Assist the Teacher:
    • Serve as liaison between Behavior Consultant/Behavior Analyst to ensure classroom staff implement students’ PBSPs with fidelity.
    • Model proactive, evidence-based strategies for classroom staff.
    • Collect data on current goals, current interventions, discipline referrals, and ABC data for Functional Behavior Assessments.
    • Generate data tracking systems in collaboration with classroom staff to represent collected data graphically to ensure communication of student progress.
    • Maintain paperwork for each student to support staff collaboration to include: IEP overview document, important personal information, most current PBSP highlights, the student’s goals with tracking sheets, and pertinent data tools like ABC sheets or DBR scales.
    • Arrange the learning environment for students’ success.
  • Assist with data collection and tracking:
    • Work independently to represent collected data graphically.
    • Work independently to enter all daily data into provided templates (Skill Card Database).
    • Enter discipline referrals into the Student Information System.
  • Additional responsibilities
    • All other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma required.
    • Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree in education or psychology preferred.
    • Previous experience working with students with significant emotional and behavioral needs/ ability to relate well to adolescent population desired.
    • Experience working in schools.
    • Experience working with community agencies servicing children.
  • Professional Certifications
    • Registered Behavior Technician certification (opportunity to earn upon hiring)
    • Safety Care certification (opportunity to earn upon hiring)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 210 days/year

Salary

Support, Band 12, TBD

  • Salary is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.*

210 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
