Job Overview
Chester Charter Scholars Academy is seeking a dependable and flexible Building Substitute to support our 21st Century After-School Program.
The Building Substitute will be available each program day to step into classrooms or activities when a regularly scheduled after-school staff member is absent. When substitute coverage is not needed, the Building Substitute will assist with student supervision, homework support, enrichment activities, dismissal, and other program needs.
This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with children, is comfortable working with different age groups, and can adapt easily to a variety of classroom and activity settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide substitute coverage for absent 21st Century program staff
- Supervise students in a safe, positive, and structured environment
- Follow lesson plans or activity plans provided by program staff
- Assist students with homework and academic activities
- Support enrichment activities such as art, sports, cooking, science, theater, and other program offerings
- Help maintain appropriate student behavior and reinforce program expectations
- Assist with student transitions, attendance, dismissal, and other daily program routines
- Work collaboratively with teachers, instructors, and program leadership
- Be flexible and willing to assist wherever needed within the after-school program
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with school-age children preferred
- Dependable, patient, and comfortable managing groups of students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow directions and adapt quickly to changing assignments
- Must be able to complete all required Pennsylvania school clearances
Schedule
Monday through Thursday
After school through approximately 3:00pm - 5:15pm

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
