What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Music Teacher position at Chester-Andover Elementary School?
Chester Andover Elementary School is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Music Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1.Teach pre-kindergarten through 6th grade music classes in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way
2.Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction, including general music, band, and small group/individual band lessons during the school day
3.Develop students’ instrumental and ensemble performance skills, with a focus on band participation and growth
4.Plan, organize, and direct a winter concert that showcases student learning and musical achievement
5.Lead and manage a school marching band, including preparing students for and coordinating performances at two community events annually (additional stipend provided)
6.Support the social and emotional development of students by collaborating and communicating regularly with classroom teachers in order to support individual student needs
7.Evaluate all students on progress reports and at end of each semester
8.Participate in individual student teams, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents as required.
9.Develop and enforce a behavioral environment that is appropriate to classroom activity, conducive to learning, and consistent with established administrative policies
10.Provide a classroom and/or instructional space that is attractive, healthful, safe and conducive to learning, with materials that are in good condition and accessible to students.
11.Maintain records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
12.Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, district policies, and administrative regulations.
13.Develop and enforce a behavioral environment that is appropriate to classroom activity, conducive to learning, and consistent with established administrative policies.
14.Participate in other school-wide activities throughout the year, such as committees, in-service, department and staff meetings, and occasional evening or weekend school events.
15.Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and working knowledge of Vermont's Framework of Standards required. Recent experience working in a Vermont school district preferred.
Certifications and Licenses: Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License. Holds the appropriate endorsement(s) for the subject(s) being taught.
Salary : $50,140 - $95,940
