HELP WANTED
Technology Librarian (Part-Time, 15 hours/week)
Are you the person others turn to when technology isn’t working? Do you enjoy helping people feel confident using computers, devices, and online tools? If so, the Chesley Memorial Library is looking for a knowledgeable and service-oriented Technology Librarian to support our community and lead our technology services.
This is a hands-on, in-person position that plays a key role in ensuring our library’s technology is accessible, up-to-date, and responsive to community needs.
JOB SUMMARY
The Technology Librarian oversees the library’s technology systems and provides support to both staff and patrons. This position also participates in the daily operations of the library, including circulation, reference, technical processing, program development, cataloging, and patron assistance.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Technology Management
- Provide leadership and direction for the library’s technology needs, including planning for future developments
- Select, install, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware and software
- Work with consultants and technicians as needed
- Test systems to ensure functionality within the library environment
- Maintain an inventory of all electronic equipment
- Recommend and implement technology policies and improvements
- Support and carry out goals outlined in the library’s technology plan
Digital Services & Outreach
- Design, develop, maintain, and promote the library’s website as a hub for digital services
- Provide access to and instruction on online resources, databases, and the library catalog
- Digitize selected archival materials for online access
- Create and manage the library’s e-newsletter and mailing list
- Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Public Service & Training
- Assist patrons with computers, devices, and technology-related questions
- Provide one-on-one assistance and lead technology classes or training sessions
- Assist at the circulation desk as needed
- Maintain working knowledge of the automated circulation system
- Support staff by managing access credentials as directed by the Library Director
- Attend workshops and training sessions to stay current with technology trends
SCHEDULE
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
This position requires on-site work at the library. It is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills.
COMPENSATION
Wage scale: Grade 14, Step 1 starting at $19.99 per hour (range $19.99 to $30.23).
