What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Lab Scientist 5 (Technical Specialist) - Laboratory position at Cheshire Medical Center?
Under the general direction of the General Lab Supervisor, independently performs a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform a variety of laboratory tests in a timely manner yielding accurate and precise results with a low error rate. Assists Medical Director and Section Supervisor in test selection and implementation. Establishes or verifies test performance specifications. Is able to assist others in learning techniques and theory. Develops training and teaching programs for area(s) of oversight. Orients and rains new lab staff. Trains bench personnel when new procedures or systems are put into routine use.
BS Degree and minimum of 3- 5 years experience. 3-5 years experience required. Nationally recognized certification within 18 months of hire. Once obtained, maintenance of certification is not required. ASCP Preferred.
