Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using proper aseptic techniques to ensure safe and accurate specimen collection
- Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient physiology to support clinical assessments
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment adhering to infection control standards and aseptic procedures
- Communicate clearly with patients about procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout the collection process
- Document all collection activities accurately in accordance with hospital or laboratory policies
- Assist with specimen processing, transportation, and storage as needed to support laboratory workflows
Experience
- Prior laboratory experience or clinical laboratory experience preferred, especially in hospital settings
- Proven proficiency in laboratory techniques including venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen handling
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs measurement
- Experience with laboratory procedures such as specimen processing and maintaining sample integrity
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to provide compassionate care in fast-paced environments
- Familiarity with hospital protocols related to phlebotomy, infection control, and aseptic technique
