Reports to: Education Manager

Work Location: Downtown Baltimore; limited remote work may be possible subject to program needs

Schedule: Primarily weekdays, with occasional evenings and weekends

Start Date: December 1 or January 12

With an operating budget of over $2.7 million and a staff of eighteen, CSC now serves over 32,000 patrons and students annually through a season of six mainstage productions, fast-developing community partnerships, and robust education and community engagement programs. CSC performs in Downtown Baltimore and, during the summer, outdoors in Ellicott City. CSC’s Access Department provides matinee performances, classes, summer camps, community engagement programming and manages Shakespeare Beyond!, CSC’s statewide engagement project that offers free performances and educational programming throughout the State of Maryland.


Job Description


The CSC Access Associate reports to and assists the Education Manager and plays a central role in welcoming the 15,000 students we serve annually. This role schedules workshops and residencies state-wide, and shares our partnership, marketing, and production/event news. The position is ideal for those experienced with arts in education, theatre for diverse audiences, and K-12 educators and students. This staff member also works closely with the Access Team and dozens of Teaching Artists, as well as collaborating with colleagues in Production, Finance, Marketing, and Development.


Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the administrative side of the program, including but not limited to securing agreements with schools, data entry, account reconciliation in conjunction with Finance, and scheduling teaching artist training and programmatic site visits
  • Coordinate and assist Education Manager with lesson plans, approaches, and professional development items
  • Facilitate clear communication between CSC Access and educators, district/school staff, community partners, and special programs
  • Assist in cultivating partnerships with national and regional peers
  • Follow company procedure in generating, receiving, filing, scheduling, and sharing student matinee accounts
  • Collaborate with staff to coordinate in-theatre events
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts/communications/theatre/education preferred
  • At least one year of professional experience in theatre education or related work
  • Highly organized and must excel in time management and prioritization
  • Flexibility, patience, and strong customer service skills (including making and returning phone calls)
  • Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously and meet deadlines on a consistent schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Office 365 and SharePoint Online a plus)


Where qualifications are described in terms of formal education or training, prior experience in a related field, as determined by CSC, may alternatively be considered.


Compensation and Benefits

 

  • Starting salary of $35,000 per year
  • Downtown parking pass or allowance
  • Short- and long-term disability insurance coverage effective after sixty days of full-time employment, paid 100% by CSC, subject to plan terms, conditions, and requirements
  • Optional individual health insurance coverage for employee paid 100% by CSC through Individual Coverage HRA, effective the first full calendar month of employment, subject to plan terms, conditions, and requirements. Optional family coverage may be purchased at employee’s expense, payable pre-tax through ICHRA as permitted by law.
  • Optional group dental insurance coverage available at employee’s expense
  • Optional retirement plan with employer matching contribution up to 3% of salary
  • Ten days paid time off per year, to be increased by one day for each completed year of full-time employment up to a maximum of 25 days per year
  • Additional paid time off on most Federal holidays and from December 25 through January 1
