Fireproofing Sales and Estimator
Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a well-established specialty contractor to identify a Spray-Applied Fireproofing Estimator. This individual will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects involving spray-applied fire-resistive materials (SFRM), intumescent coatings, and related fireproofing systems. The position offers the opportunity to work with a respected industry leader serving commercial and industrial construction markets.
Position Overview
The Spray-Applied Fireproofing Estimator is responsible for analyzing project documents, performing detailed quantity take-offs, developing cost estimates, and preparing competitive bid proposals. This role works closely with operations, project management, vendors, subcontractors, and clients throughout the preconstruction process to ensure successful project pursuits and smooth project transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to determine fireproofing scope requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs for spray-applied fireproofing materials (SFRM), intumescent coatings, and related systems.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and logistics.
- Prepare and submit competitive bid proposals within required deadlines.
- Maintain and update unit pricing, labor rates, and production factors.
- Interpret project specifications, UL assemblies, fire-resistance ratings, and applicable industry standards.
- Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and conflicts within construction documents.
- Conduct site visits as needed to validate project conditions, access requirements, and scope assumptions.
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during preconstruction planning.
- Track bid activity, maintain estimating records, and support project handoff activities upon award.
- Review and price RFIs, RFPs, change orders, and revised construction documents.
- Assist with contract reviews, submittals, scheduling discussions, and project startup coordination.
- Support estimating efforts related to spray insulation scopes as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- 3 years of estimating experience within fireproofing, coatings, specialty contracting, insulation, or related construction trades.
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Edge, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of UL fire-rated assemblies, ASTM standards, and fireproofing materials.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
