Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering exclusively on a Chief Financial Officer search with a highly-regarded, mission-driven nonprofit organization in the Baltimore area. This role reports directly to the CEO and will oversee finance and accounting across a multi-entity structure. The organization has a well-established presence, supporting a mix of operational and community-based initiatives.
The CFO will serve as a key partner to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board, providing insight into financial performance, helping guide budgeting and planning efforts, and playing a central role in shaping financial strategy, informing key organizational decisions, and driving long-term financial strength and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all finance and accounting operations, including reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning
- Act as a key advisor to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board on financial performance, risk, and overall direction
- Own the audit process, tax filings, and external reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Oversee financial management across a multi-entity structure, ensuring consistency, transparency, and strong internal controls
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment activity to support long-term financial stability
- Partner with leadership on financial modeling and evaluation of new initiatives and strategic opportunities
Qualifications:
- 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility
- Nonprofit experience strongly preferred, with exposure to grants a plus
- Experience in multi-entity or complex operating environments; real estate or project-based exposure is helpful
- Strong technical foundation in US GAAP; CPA preferred
- Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and Board stakeholders
Salary : $200,000 - $225,000
