Position Overview
CMIT South High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Algebra I Teacher committed to fostering mathematical understanding, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mathematics education, culturally responsive teaching, and helping students build a strong foundation for success in higher-level math courses and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Algebra I instruction aligned to the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.
- Create and implement lessons that promote mathematical reasoning, collaboration, and application.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools to support diverse learners.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and actionable feedback.
- Analyze student data to inform instruction and support academic growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance in accordance with school policies.
- Establish a classroom environment that is respectful, structured, and conducive to learning.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues to support academic and social-emotional success.
- Participate actively in schoolwide initiatives, professional learning communities (PLCs), and collaborative planning.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Secondary Education, or related field.
- Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification in Mathematics (Grades 7–12) or eligibility for certification.
- Demonstrated ability to use data-driven instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching Algebra I or secondary mathematics in a public or charter school setting.
- Familiarity with blended learning models, technology integration, and STEM education.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration.
