Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep of our facilities across West Michigan clinic locations. This role is responsible for performing routine building maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for staff and clients.
Key responsibilities include general maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, minor electrical work, HVAC support, and basic plumbing.
Schedule & Location
This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position, typically working Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Work is performed onsite at various West Michigan clinic locations.
Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Three years’ experience in facility maintenance preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
Physical Requirements
Possible exposure to patients/clients with illnesses and/or infections. Frequent telephone and computer use, requiring manual dexterity for writing and computer use. Sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. May require bending, squatting, or kneeling and lifting up to 75 pounds. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Conducts regular inspections of buildings and grounds to make notes and recommendations for maintenance and repair issues using a pre-established check sheet.
- Manages work orders through a facilities ticketing system.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.).
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
- Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
- Performs inventory and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Ensures the tools and equipment remain in good working condition and that the Cherry Health is protected against loss.
- As needed, cleans interior of buildings, parking lots, and other work areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Agency staff and vendors in the course of work.
- Knowledge of the methods and principles of general building maintenance.
- Knowledge of the principles of carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work, and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of contract administration.
- Knowledge of state and local laws, codes, and regulations related to areas of assignment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl, and reach for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work on a ladder of 20 feet.
