This is a full time, benefit eligible position typically working Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. This is a hybrid position with staff working onsite at our downtown Grand Rapids location Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The coding specialist is responsible for the management of charge entry on a daily basis for assigned Cherry Health sites/programs.
Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
High school graduate or GED required.
Must work toward certification from a certifying body dependent on assigned specialty. Examples are the following:
Two years’ experience as a coder in a healthcare setting preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
Physical Requirements
Possible exposure to patients/clients with illnesses and/or infections. Frequent telephone and computer use, requiring manual dexterity for writing and computer use. Sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. May require bending, squatting, or kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Process the Claim Reproduction report on a daily basis which includes correction of primary claims (rebills) and secondary claims.
- Process daily charges off of pending internal and external report.
- Meet daily quota (assigned by Supervisor).
- Process daily reports that coincide with daily processing of charges.
- Generate, review and update the unbilled report on a weekly basis.
- Post claim adjustments on a daily basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and write
