Cherokee County Health Department has a job opening for a PHN II position.

This is a full time position to work at the Murphy Office

Salary: $56,548 (may hire at a lesser rate if employee is not fully qualified to be a PHN II)

Specific Responsibilities:

Responsible for Adult and Pediatric Sick Clinic goals, policies, procedures, and standing orders to ensure compliance to Contract Addendum Agreement with a minimal annual review/updating any policies, procedures and/or standing orders as necessary.

Analyze statistical data for the above programs for compliance and develop strategies for compliance.

Prepare and update provider contracts annually with provider’s signature indicating contract reviewed.

Monitor records for completion of required documentation per policy.

Assess/Review numbers of patients seen in clinic programs monthly and determine any changes needed to improve.

Serve as the specified program liaison with local hospitals, physicians, and other community agencies.

Collaborate with local agencies/businesses to educate and promote services of the programs.

Maintain tracking data of referral and follow up as required per program policies.

Participate in Quality Assurance for the clinic programs.

Work in clinic taking patient history, providing education and assisting with physical exams and specimen collection.

Serve as back-up nurse coordinator for Immunization, Family Planning and Communicable Disease programs.

Execute other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or the Health Director.

Minimum Training: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience.

The NCCPHN course must be completed to meet the 10A NC Administrative Code 46 .0301 requirement stating all public health nurses shall complete an introductory course in principles and practices of public health and public health nursing sponsored by the Department and developed by the Department with input from local health departments and schools of nursing within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment in accordance with Health Services Commission Rule. Applicant must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing.

Must be licensed by the state of North Carolina as an RN (please include copy of Nursing License with application). A valid BCLS CPR certification required. Must have a valid driver’s license. The candidate selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screening test prior to employment.
