What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solutions Analyst II position at Cherokee County Board of Commissioners?

The Application Support Analyst II is responsible for leading in the design, installation, configuration, upgrade, maintenance, and overall performance planning of complex database applications. Incumbents analyzes, designs and develops data and reporting solutions from multiple sources. Incumbents manages ongoing support of database systems for the County agencies to maximize technical utilization.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Defines and documents department’s work processes and functions to identify needs, objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements.  Analyzes existing business processes and applications to determine requirements for system replacements or upgrades. 
  • Researches and recommends database centric solutions.
  • Evaluate software and/or hardware for improvements to workflow.
  • Monitor, plan, coordinate, and execute the release of database and application system updates/patches.
  • Efficiently communicate and minimized down time for system end-users.
  • Track and monitor issues with vendors and collaborate with County staff regarding resolutions.
  • Coordinates user acceptance testing of systems.
  • Performs or assists with installation and configuration of enterprise database software and applications.
  • Conduct or coordinate one-on-one or group training sessions as needed.
  • Identify ways to aggregate data from various sources.
  • Prepares reports consolidating the information into cohesive and understandable formats.
  • Perform project management duties including project plans, schedules, task assignments, status reports, risk management, communication plans, resource plans.
  • Budget for project implementation success as required.
  • Modify configurations to meet department’s needs.
  • Responds to database application outages or performance problems.
  • Analyst for projects involving conversion or migration of data into new systems.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan that relate to database applications.
  • Assists with data extraction of information as needed by the departments/agencies to provide information to citizens as requested through the open records request following proper procedures and policies.
  • Performs database administration tasks including database and transaction log backups, database availability, performance and monitoring.
  • Conducts application needs analysis for allocation and planning of system storage requirements and growth analysis.
  • Gathers quotes for upgrades and budgeting numbers. Gathers competitive bids from multiple vendors for new or replacement systems.
  • Maintain awareness of new products, technologies, trends, and advances in the field.
  • Attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, critical thinking.
  • Ability to decipher requirements and discuss configuration options with the client.
  • Ability to take initiative, set priorities, take ownership of assigned projects and initiatives, and independently drive for results.
  • Self-motivated to understand and comprehend new and complex material.
  • Creatively identify ways to aggregate data from various sources.
  • Ability to understand information quickly, derive insight, synthesize information clearly and concisely, and devise outcomes.
  • Design and develop reports with custom formulas and groupings.  Write complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
  • Implement SQL indexes, referential integrity, database maintenance and backups.
  • Understanding of data modeling, data transformations and complex formulas.  Knowledge of the methods, tools, and techniques applied to database administration, data analysis, evaluation and design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, diagnose and develop database administration solutions to potential and real operational and system deficiencies.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with superiors, fellow workers, and vendor's representatives.
  • Proven experience working in a team-oriented, customer service oriented, and collaborative environment.
  • Programming experience with web, desktop or console applications a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
