Overview
Access Control personnel support the MDA Security and Emergency Management Directorate (DSS) in executing multiple Security Operations Services at MDA facilities in Redstone Arsenal.
****This position is for 2nd shift (2p-10p) and 3rd shift (10p-6a)****
Responsibilities
- Control access to buildings, facilities, and protected areas; safeguard equipment and materials; and conduct interior and exterior security inspections as directed.
- Issue visitor badges in accordance with established procedures, ensuring visitors present valid photo identification or passports and verifying identity as part of the access control process.
- Create temporary access badges for approved personnel requiring entry into MDA facilities.
- Operate and interpret magnetometers, X‑ray machines, and screening equipment to ensure no prohibited or unauthorized items enter the facility.
- Ensure visitors secure prohibited items (including personal electronic devices) before entering restricted or controlled areas.
- Conduct security measures such as Random Antiterrorism Measures (RAMs), Extra Security Measures (ESMs), and Facility Access Inspections as directed by Security Operations.
- Escort personnel to restricted areas as required (SMDC only).
- Conduct interior and exterior security checks of MDA facilities to confirm security integrity and immediately report any observed violations of MDA policies or procedures to the Shift Supervisor (SS) or Security Control Center (SCC).
- Respond to emergency incidents and assist medical personnel, fire departments, law enforcement, and other responders at the direction of supervisors.
- Provide the Shift Supervisor or SCC with accurate on‑the‑spot assessments when responding to emergency situations.
- Execute emergency response duties, including the administration of CPR, AED, and First Aid as required.
- Coordinate with the Security Operations Center during special events to ensure compliance with all functional and operational procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of security operations and mission requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
- Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certified (100%) and trained in Red Cross First Aid.
