Description:
Chemung Contracting is hiring hardworking, safety-conscious individuals to join our Paving Crew! We have openings for both entry-level and experienced team members across a variety of paving roles. Whether you're operating equipment or supporting the crew on the ground, you'll be part of a team that builds and maintains roads throughout Central Virginia.
Now hiring for the following positions:
- Paver Operator
- MTV (Material Transfer Vehicle) Operator
- Screed Operator
- Roller Operator
- Luteman / Raker
- General Laborer / Ground Crew
- Quality Control (QC) Field Technician
- Lab Technician
Responsibilities (varies by position):
- Operate and maintain paving equipment such as pavers, rollers, MTVs, and screeds
- Perform manual tasks including raking, shoveling, and handwork to ensure a smooth asphalt surface
- Assist with daily equipment setup, inspections, and breakdown
- Support general job site operations including material handling, traffic control, and cleanup
- Conduct field or lab density testing (for QC and Lab Tech positions)
- Communicate clearly with crew members and supervisors
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather and physical conditions
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- [Preferred but not required] Previous experience in paving or construction
- [Preferred] VDOT or related testing certifications for QC/Lab roles
