Job Title: Staff Accountant
Here’s how you’ll make an impact
Responsible for independently managing key general ledger functions, performing complex account reconciliations, and providing analytical insights to support financial reporting, forecasting, and management decision‑making.
- Independently maintain and reconcile complex general ledger accounts and related subledgers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Serve as a key contributor to month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
- Prepare, review, and post daily and monthly journal entries requiring analysis, estimates, and judgement.
- Complete schedules and maintain documentation for mortgage servicing rights, allowance for loan losses, other real estate owned, FDIC premiums, and other assigned areas.
- Prepare and maintain schedules supporting current and deferred income tax accounts.
- Maintain and oversee Fixed Asset schedules and sub-ledgers in accordance with corporate policy and GAAP.
- Perform in‑depth variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts; identify trends, risks, and underlying business drivers, and communicate findings to Finance leadership.
- Analyze financial results to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
- Validate and analyze financial data used in SEC, regulatory, tax, and REIT reporting, ensuring consistency and integrity across reporting platforms.
- Collaborate with Finance personnel to ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Communicate and coordinate directly with external auditors during the annual financial statement audit.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Provide oversight and backup support for accounts payable processes as needed, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and internal control enhancements.
- Conforms to General Performance Expectations as identified for all employees.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in accounting or related field preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and mathematical proficiency.
- Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting, analyzing and reporting financial information.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Salary Range $55,380 to $70,000 Annually
Compensation offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education and, where applicable, licenses or certifications obtained.
