Position: Maintenance Tech - Co-op Primary Location: East St. Louis, MO Reports to: Maintenance Manager Compensation: $28.00/hr The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. About This Role and You As a Maintenance Mechanic Co-op, you will support our maintenance team in performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repair work on equipment and systems used in a manufacturing environment. This hands-on opportunity is designed to help you apply your classroom knowledge in real-world settings while gaining valuable experience with industrial mechanical systems. Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Millwright, or a related technical field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take direction from experienced team members.
- Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work safely in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Comfortable working in a physically active role and in an industrial setting.
- Assist in performing maintenance and repair of equipment including pumps, conveyors, fans, valves, and basic piping systems.
- Help conduct inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
- Shadow experienced mechanics and participate in troubleshooting mechanical and facility equipment issues.
- Support inventory tracking of maintenance tools and spare parts.
- Learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Assist with documenting maintenance activities in our computerized maintenance system (CMMS).
- Participate in safety and maintenance training programs.
- Observe and follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Operate tools and equipment under supervision, including forklifts and lifts (training provided).
- Perform general shop and facility upkeep tasks as assigned.
