Position Summary
ChemPartner is seeking an experienced and operationally strong General Manager to lead the day-to-day management and strategic development of our Boston site. This role is critical in supporting the continued expansion of our US operations and ensuring seamless integration with our global teams, particularly our China-based headquarters.
The General Manager will be responsible for site operations, cross-functional coordination, client engagement support, and organizational build-out. The role requires strong leadership, operational rigor, and the ability to work effectively across cultures. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is essential to ensure close alignment with headquarters and facilitate efficient communication across regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Leadership & Operations
Oversee daily operations of the Boston site, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high-quality execution
Build and optimize operational processes in line with global standards and best practices
Ensure readiness and scalability of the site to support ongoing and future business growth
- Cross-Regional Coordination
Act as the primary liaison between the Boston site and China headquarters
Drive alignment on strategic priorities, operational execution, and resource allocation
Facilitate clear and timely communication across global teams
- Team & Organizational Development
Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of local teams
Establish a high-performance culture with clear accountability and strong collaboration
Partner with functional leaders (Biology, DMPK, Operations, etc.) to ensure effective team integration
- Client & Business Support
Support BD and scientific teams in client interactions, visits, and project execution
Ensure the site delivers a strong client experience aligned with ChemPartner’s global standards
Contribute to the positioning of the Boston site as a key hub for US-based clients
- Operational Excellence & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all local regulatory, safety, and quality requirements
Implement and maintain robust operational and reporting systems
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across site functions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (PhD, MSc, MBA) preferred
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and spoken) – mandatory
10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO industry
Proven experience in site management, operations leadership, or general management roles
Strong understanding of preclinical drug discovery and development workflows
Experience working in a global organization with cross-border teams
