Key Responsibilities
- Perform pressure testing and certification of chemical transport hoses in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory standards.
- Inspect hoses for wear, defects, damage, and chemical compatibility compliance.
- Document test results accurately and maintain required logs, tags, and certification records.
- Prepare hoses for service, including cleaning, capping, labeling, and staging.
- Conduct tank trailer walk-arounds, checking vents, valves, gaskets, hoses, pumps, and safety equipment.
- Perform general shop and trailer mechanical work, including basic repairs and maintenance on trailer components (valves, gaskets, pumps, etc.) and shop equipment as needed.
- Assist mechanics and drivers with hose-related questions or equipment needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; ensure proper disposal of damaged hoses.
- Identify safety concerns and report issues to management immediately.
- Communicate equipment issues promptly with dispatch, drivers, and management.
- Assist with inventory, parts ordering, and tracking as needed.
- Follow all required PPE protocols, including chemical suits, gloves, safety glasses, footwear, and respirators when applicable.
- Ensure all work meets DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA/Cal-OSHA standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior industrial, chemical, tank wash, or mechanical experience preferred.
- Basic computer or tablet proficiency for data entry and logging.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to wear full PPE, including respirators when required (fit testing provided).
Physical Requirements
This role requires standing, bending, lifting up to 75 lbs, and repetitive motion, and involves working in an indoor/outdoor shop environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, water, noise, and heavy equipment.
