Status: HOURLY

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Adhere to strict safety protocols.

2. Be knowledgeable of regulations regarding transportation of hazardous substances, including what permits are required along the planned route

3. Ensure hazardous chemicals are appropriately tracked and accounted for at all stages of transport.

4. Ensure chemicals are properly labeled and no trailers are leaking or otherwise improperly prepared for shipping.

5. Ensure safe and timely delivery.

6. Maintain shipping papers and emergency contact information in designated area of the truck.

7. Ensure cargo is secure to prevent spilling during transport.

8. Assist with providing solutions to potential late deliveries.

9. Follow safety procedures regarding loading, unloading, parking and route restrictions.

10. Secure appropriate signatures on all relevant shipping paperwork.

11. Submit paperwork to various departments following completion of delivery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to drive 2/3 axle truck trailer combination.

2. Connect and disconnect hoses and fittings to trailers and customer storage tanks.

3. Monitor valves and gauges while loading and unloading product.

4. Inspect hatches and valves.

5. Perform DOT pre and post trip vehicle inspections of truck and trailer.

6. Fuel tractor when necessary.

7. Complete DOT hours of service log book.

8. Drive on and off scales for truck and trailer tare and gross weights.

9. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. At least three (3) years’ experience in Chemical Transportation responsibilities and procedures.

2. Must have high school diploma or equivalent

3. Must be computer literate.

4. Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team.
