Chemical Solvents Inc. (CSI) has thrived for over 50 years in the Cleveland area providing commodity chemicals and blending services to a wide variety of industries including, but not limited to, construction, manufacturing, and specialty chemicals. We are currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead our Laboratory team.
The Laboratory Manager will manage all the technical aspects of CSI’s laboratory operations. This position is an essential part of CSI’s Management Team and is relied upon to drive cultural focus on safety, production, innovation, and visionary leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for managing all aspects of the Laboratory Department, including, but not limited to:
- Collaboration with all CSI Department Managers in support of Company goals.
- Management of CSI's laboratory budget and equipment.
- Development, enhancement, and adherence to internal operational, budgeting, and financial reporting requirements.
- Management of R & D and Quality Control staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
- Development, maintenance, and execution of the quality management plan and quality control procedures.
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of the testing and reporting processes.
- Develop material safety data sheets and labels for all products.
- Set-up and maintenance of laboratory computer management procedures.
- Ensure personal compliance with Company, EPA, DOT, OSHA, and all other required safety policies and procedures as well as manage the training of operations personnel to comply with same.
- Development, maintenance, and execution of plans and procedures that ensure environmental & safety and regulatory compliance.
- Complete special projects as requested.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualities Required
- Four-year degree required with a major in a chemical discipline strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ management experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a laboratory required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the chemical industry strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft software suite, e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Experience with ERP software (Datacor C/S) beneficial.
