What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at ChemHistory, LLC?
ChemHistory, LLC is an environmental laboratory ten minutes outside of Portland seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician to join our wonderful staff. This position is hands-on and integral to laboratory production and daily operations. Please provide cover letter and resume.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Currently holds or working on a BS degree in the natural sciences preferred. At least one semester of Organic Chemistry and/or Quantitative Analysis is highly desired.
Experience:
- Wet chemistry experience.
- 1 years experience in a manufacturing/production setting.
- Experience with basic weighing, measuring, sampling, and volumetric analytical methods.
- Experience with basic laboratory equipment, analytical balances, volumetric pipettes required.
- Microsoft Office and Google Sheet experience
Job description:
- Adhere to TNI, NELAC, and ISO 17205
- Follow cGMP and GLP
- Follow SOPs for various extraction methods for various matrices and assays.
- Prepare analytical samples by representative sampling, weighing, and dissolution in various solvents
- Perform extractions & dilutions of samples for Liquid Chromatography (LC),
Gas Chromatography (GC), and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP).
- Practice sanitary conditions and plating various microbes
- Good communication skills to help coordinate samples to be prepared each day with the analytical team members to ensure a smooth flow of samples ready for instrumental analysis.
- Daily calibrations and/or verifications for equipment
- Ensure safety is a first priority in everything performed.
- Ability to work safely with a variety of solvents and concentrated acids.
- Demonstrate motivation and a good work ethic under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a production setting with high noise and plant based aromas.
- Excellent attention to detail required.
- Maintain accurate extraction production logs.
- Data entry.
- Maintain supplies and consumable for the extraction laboratory.
- Maintain sufficient stock of all calibration and LCS standards for all analytical methods.
- Solvent and sample disposal.
- Sweep and mop lab and all lab work areas.
- Assist with general cleaning and sanitizing the lab.

Laboratory staff can be expected to work in areas where hazards associated are with, but not limited to, airborne pathogens. Biological materials, hazardous substances, and radioactive material exist and are handled. Appropriate training is provided regarding these hazards and staff are expected to adhere to all health and safety policies at all times, whether they are in writing or verbalized by a supervisor.
