Here's a Glimpse of the Job

Texas A&M's Biology Department is looking for a Research Technician, who under general supervision performs entry-level, semi-skilled technical research support involving routine tasks. This position will assist with ongoing and expanding research projects involving gene-edited cavefish and Drosophila.

Opportunities to Contribute

• Assembles, operates, and maintains laboratory and technical equipment, including updating laboratory computers and providing logistical support with computer systems.
• Maintains laboratory spaces in compliance with OSHA standards, performs routine clean-up of labs and prep rooms, and manages inventory by ordering necessary parts and supplies.
• Assists senior staff with major field experiments and contributes to developing procedures as needed.
• Supports the research participant pool by recruiting, screening, and maintaining participant records, and assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.
• Participates in training and professional development sessions as required.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years of related experience.
• Ability to lift and/or move medium weight objects.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
