Posting Summary
This role provides technical support to the laboratory of Dr. Brigitte Lavoie in the Department of Neurological Sciences. Performs complex experiments requiring multiple assays and calcium imaging to examine the neurobiology of gastrointestinal function in health and disease states. Prepares smooth muscle preparations and dissect live tissue for imaging. Completes laboratory procedures and preparations while providing functional supervision of undergraduate students. This position also assists in the maintenance of the Lavoie Lab animal colonies in collaboration with other Lavoie Lab faculty/staff and the Office of Animal Care Management. Other responsibilities include data analysis of scientific quantitative imaging and statistics and preparation of charts and figures for presentation and publication.
Minimum Qualifications (or Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience)
Bachelor's degree in related science and one to two years of laboratory experience required. Prior experience performing live cell calcium imaging of intact gallbladder smooth muscle. Ability to perform delicate dissection of live tissue for imaging.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of Volumetry and Graph Prism software. Prior experience collecting and processing tissues for biochemical/molecular assays is highly desirable.
Anticipated Pay Range
$22.34/hr - $25.00/hr

A probationary period may be required, Contingent on continued funding, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is ineligible for telework due to the essential functions, Background Check required for this position
