Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments, including restorative work, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray equipment
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote optimal dental health
- Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization following infection prevention management protocols to ensure aseptic technique is maintained at all times
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation as needed during procedures involving medical imaging or oral surgery
- Support administrative tasks such as patient management software updates, appointment scheduling, and greeting patients as a friendly dental receptionist
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and clinical procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Curve for efficient medical documentation and record keeping
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention standards
- Ability to perform X-ray imaging accurately while adhering to safety protocols for radiation exposure
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry techniques and experience working with children is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about oral health and coordinate with the dental team
- Certification in dental assisting or related training preferred; additional certifications in radiography or infection control are a plus
