Devops/Platform Engineer with Data-Focus_Remote_Only on W2Rate- $45-$55/hr on W2 Job Description:As a Sr Engineer you will be considered a technical expert in one or more phases of application and/or systems engineering. This includes providing design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy and expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business. You will determine specifications, plan, design, and develop business critical software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes - either individually or in concert with product team. Designing SolutionsApply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customersAbility to work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align and supports the broader software engineering strategy Implementing SolutionsMember of team that can work independently, as well as collaboratively with team, in developing core processes and automation for the product that delivers outcomes.Consistent and dependable in delivering core processes and automation that delivers outcomes and meets/exceeds the teams expectations for stability, scalability, resilience, etc. Learning and Applying New TechniquesShares new ideas and techniques with team; Encourages other engineers to invest in learning as a part of their job. Selecting & Managing Technology VendorsContribute to define the selection criteria for selecting the right technology vendorsParticipate in proof of concept / technology along with the vendor Coaching EngineersProvide guidance to the engineering community to assist with optimal plaform utilization.Provide technical expertise and help the team to solve technical/software issues.Provide domain expertise on platform products in their area to engineering community to help them learn/grow their skills. EducationRequired:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience Required Work Experience / Skills8 years of experience in engineering environments, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed software engineering plan to deliverSound knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practicesSound knowledge of version and revision control practices and proceduresSound knowledge of systems design concepts that provide security and stabilityExpertise in debugging code and/or complex log files for troubleshooting and analysis of product defectsPerform code reviews with team members Preferred Work Experience / SkillsKubernetes cluster administration (OpenShift preferred)Sound knowledge of Linux Environments (RHEL, CentOS and/or Fedora)Java Web Application Server Administration (Apache Tomcat, Tanzu TC Server and/or IBM Websphere preferred)Apache HTTP Server AdministrationAWS Experience (EC2 and/or Lambda)Intermediate script writing (Bash and/or Python)Sound knowledge automation tools(Ansible, Terraform, and/or GitHub Actions)Configuring and analyzing telemetry from observability tools (DataDog, ELK and/or Prometheus)As a Sr Engineer you will be considered a technical expert in one or more phases of application and/or systems engineering.
