Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Special Education Teacher role located in Chelsea, MA. The Special Education Teacher will design and deliver individualized instruction for students with disabilities in accordance with IEPs, using evidence-based practices aligned with district and state standards. Daily responsibilities include differentiating lessons for middle school learners, monitoring progress, collecting data, and collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student growth. The role also involves implementing behavior supports, maintaining accurate documentation, participating in IEP meetings, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school climate. The teacher will engage in ongoing professional development and adhere to all district policies and relevant special education regulations.
Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge related to supporting students with disabilities and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Demonstrated teaching skills, including lesson planning, differentiation, classroom management, and assessment of student learning.
- Background in middle school education, with an understanding of adolescent development and grade-level curriculum standards.
- Special Education training and/or licensure, with familiarity in federal and state special education laws and best practices.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and external partners.
- Relevant state teaching certification or eligibility, preferably in Special Education; bachelor’s degree in education or related field required, master’s degree preferred.
- Ability to work in a multicultural, multilingual community and commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Organizational skills, reliability in maintaining documentation, and readiness to engage in ongoing professional learning.
