About the Opportunity:
Chelsea Piers seeks an experienced, high-level, positive, and motivated coach to work with our Girls Team programs — Development Program, Pre-Team through Level 10 (including Elite), and Xcel, Bronze through Sapphire — with an emphasis on bars and vault. Candidates must have at least five years of experience working with Women's Gymnastics, including DP Pre-Team through Level 10, TOPS Program, and HOPES (Elite Coaching Experience a plus), and/or Xcel Bronze through Sapphire. Candidates must also have strong spotting abilities, think creatively in a busy gym, be a team player, and be able to critique athletes in a positive manner.
Responsibilities:

Coach Development Program (Pre-Team through Level 10) and Xcel (Bronze through Sapphire) athletes, with a focus on bars and vault

Implement team training plans as directed by the Head Coach, adapting daily workouts to each athlete’s progression

Set and maintain high performance standards for skill development, strength, flexibility, and competitive readiness

Teach and safely spot advanced skills across all events using proper progressions and injury-prevention practices

Prepare athletes for competition, including routine development, meet preparation, and in-meet coaching

Travel with the team for competitions, including weekends and out-of-town meets

Track athlete progress and provide regular feedback aligned with seasonal goals

Communicate clearly and professionally with athletes, parents, and staff, including progress updates and goal setting

Uphold USA Gymnastics SafeSport standards and maintain all required certifications and memberships

Collaborate with coaching staff and support evaluations, tryouts, camps, and program events

Create a positive, disciplined, and athlete-centered training environment

Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of the program

Qualifications:About You:
You are dependable, energetic, and passionate about gymnastics and working with children. You enjoy working in a team environment and exhibit a positive attitude. You have:

A minimum of five years' experience coaching Women's competitive gymnastics, including DP Pre-Team through Level 10 and/or Xcel Bronze through Sapphire

Extensive knowledge of and enthusiasm for gymnastics

Ability to work evenings and weekends

Knowledge and experience with the TOPS and Hopes (Elite experience is a plus)

Excellent spotting skills in all gymnastics areas, specifically on bars and vault

Thorough knowledge of skill progression

USA Gymnastics Safety Certification & SafeSport Certifications

Ability to create and/or follow lesson plans that fit within the program curriculum

Excellent customer service and communication skills, internally and externally

Must maintain a professional and courteous manner at all times

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds or more, stand or move for multiple hours, and see and hear athletes clearly in a busy environment
