About the Role
We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team onsite full-time in Raleigh, NC. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment — fast-paced, agile, and full of opportunities to contribute across multiple domains. You will work across backend services, data engineering, cloud operations, and AI-powered tooling, with a focus on building scalable solutions using Node.js, MongoDB, Google BigQuery, and Google Vertex AI. We actively leverage AI throughout our development workflow and product — you’ll be expected to both build AI-driven features for our platform and use AI tools to accelerate your own work.
All current positions require candidates to be located in Raleigh, NC. These are in-office roles. We are not offering relocation assistance at this time.
Responsibilities
- Development and maintenance of backend services and cloud infrastructure
- Collaboration with cross-functional team members to deliver on company objectives
- Code review and contribution to engineering best practices
- Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned or as business needs require
Required Skills
- 4 years of professional backend development experience
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and backend application design
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB and Google BigQuery
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-based services
- Experience working with AI/ML APIs, LLMs, or AI-powered development tools
- Understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar)
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices
- Experience with version control (Git)
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with Google Vertex AI, prompt engineering, or RAG architectures
- Experience building AI agents, chatbots, or automated workflows
- Experience with React or Flutter on the front end
- Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Open-source contributions or side projects
