This is a contract position for an Afterschool Chess Instructor located on-site in Modesto, CA. Instructors will be responsible for teaching chess skills to students in elementary and middle schools during after-school hours. Daily tasks include planning and delivering engaging chess lessons, developing students' problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, and fostering a supportive learning environment. Instructors will ensure students grasp core chess concepts and strategies while encouraging teamwork and perseverance through the game.
- Strong knowledge of Chess and the ability to teach chess strategies and gameplay to students
- Skills in Teaching, Tutoring, or Training, including effective communication and classroom management techniques
- Solid understanding of Mathematics and logical reasoning to assist in explaining concepts and strategies
- Passion for working with children and fostering a positive learning environment
- Previous experience in education, coaching, or a related field is a plus
- Flexibility to work after-school hours and travel to local schools in Modesto, CA
- Ability to pass a background check and comply with the school district's requirements
