Our Company: Chauvin Arnoux, Inc. d/b/a AEMC Instruments: We are a well-established world-leader in test and measurement instrumentation. We design and manufacture professional electrical test and measurement instruments for the industrial, commercial and utility marketplace. Specifically, our full product line includes clamp-on meters, transformer ratiometers, power quality meters, harmonic power meters, data loggers, megohmmeter, ground testers, oscilloscopes, cable testers, thermal cameras and numerous other electrical test instruments.

Primary Purpose: Our headquarters in Dover, NH, seeks an individual to lead the day-to-day activities of the R&D & Engineering Department, guiding cross-functional engineering teams in bringing existing and new designs to market.

Essential Functions:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of software engineers, hardware engineers, software testers, PCB designers, and firmware engineers.
  • Provide clear direction and guidance to team members on project priorities, technical approaches, and deliverables.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Work directly with team members to understand and evaluate technical issues, processes, and activities needed for successful project execution.
  • Coordinate the team to allocate resources effectively and prioritize tasks based on project needs.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Hold regular team meetings and communications to provide updates on current projects, milestones, and departmental initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering best practices, standards, and procedures.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Working with the director, develop and implement strategic plans for the engineering team, aligning with overall company objectives.
  • Lead the product development lifecycle from concept through market launch for both new and existing product designs.
  • Oversee the design and development of specialized tools, equipment, and fixtures to improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of records for tool development processes, specifications, and improvements.
  • Review and approve project documentation, technical specifications, and design documentation to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in engineering, production, and tool development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate across department lines with production, quality, sales, marketing, and other teams to address issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interact closely with Service Technicians/CSA Department to resolve customer product issues, coordinating corrective actions.
  • Facilitate clear communication between engineering staff and other departments to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support product launches and market introduction activities.

Process Improvement and Quality Assurance:

  • Lead efforts in developing and implementing tools and fixtures that align with engineering specifications and production goals.
  • Oversee the creation of testing and validation tools and equipment to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Oversee methods and procedures analysis and implement improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish, track, and report on key team performance metrics, including project timelines, resource utilization, and quality indicators.
  • Act on metrics data to drive continuous improvement and address performance gaps.
  • Provide regular status reports for leadership on project progress, resource needs, and departmental performance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 - 7 years of direct experience in electrical design and product development, with demonstrated experience bringing products to market.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, enabling effective problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, fostering productive working relationships.
  • Proven experience in creating product qualifications and specifications for new products.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage and lead a diverse team of engineers effectively.
  • Ability to provide constructive criticism and feedback to team members for their professional growth.
  • Strong decision-making abilities, capable of making timely and informed judgments.
  • Proficient in personnel and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex technical information to various audiences.
