Job Title: Interior Bus Cleaner – Part Time

Department: Vehicle Maintenance

Status: Part Time/Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $17.86 / per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6pm – 11pm

Reports To: Foreman

Summary:

The Interior Bus Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the interior of buses and other transit vehicles. This position involves detailed cleaning of all interior components, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for passengers and drivers. The role also includes vehicle movement within the facility and reporting any visible defects or damage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned that are in keeping with the goals and objectives of CARTA.

1. Vehicle Handling and Preparation:

• Bring vehicles into the shop to clean and remove them when they are finished.
• Hook up exhaust systems to vehicles and activate exhaust fans to ensure proper ventilation.

2. Interior Cleaning and Sanitation:

• Clean and sanitize all interior surfaces, including windows, panels, vents, dashboards, handrails, and stanchions.
• Thoroughly clean the driver’s area, ensuring all controls and surfaces are free from dust and debris.
• Open all interior compartments and vacuum their contents.
• Sweep and mop floors of buses and vans to maintain cleanliness.
• Sanitize and clean both the front and back of all passenger and driver seats.
• Open and clean concealed platforms of wheelchair lifts and ramps.
• Remove all graffiti and markings to maintain vehicle appearance.

3. Inspection and Reporting:

• Identify and report any interior or exterior damage and visible defects to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

Education

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

· Prior experience in commercial or automotive cleaning is a plus but not required.

Skills

· Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and safety protocols.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.

· Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment and tools.

· Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform repetitive motions in a fast-paced environment.

· Dependability and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
