EssentialFunctions
- Cleans assignedschool facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, grounds) for thepurpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe work environment.
- Delivers variousitems and materials (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture) for the purposeof ensuring adequate supplies to the appropriate parties.
- Informs students,other site personnel and supervisor for the purpose of providing informationregarding activities, safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities.
- Inspects schoolfacilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safeoperations, maintained in clean condition, and identifying necessary repairs.
- Leads, directsand assists in organizing written work schedules and written performanceinspections of custodial employees.
- Maintains activecustodial substitute lists for the purpose of scheduling substitutes asnecessary, including floating custodian assignments.
- Maintainpreventative maintenance schedule for heating, ventilation and air conditioningequipment, including quarterly air filter changes, fan motors and belts.
- Oversees minormaintenance work performed by custodial staff.
- Maintainsinventory of supplies. Develops requisitions with building custodians forschool and cleaning supplies.
- Meets withprincipals and custodians to provide reports on building needs and conditions.
- Responds toimmediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, alarms) forthe purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues andmaintaining a functioning educational environment.
- Evaluatescustodians areas visited using evaluation reports provided by the Manager ofSupport Services.
- Checks buildingsand grounds to ensure that they are properly cleaned.
- Ensures shrubs,lawns and flower beds are trimmed clean and safe.
- Arrangesfurniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations formeetings, classroom activities and events.
- Maintains recordsrelating to employees' time, performance and overtime list.
- Works with schooldistrict employees, service companies and contractors to maintain and improvethe work environment.
- Works with schoolprincipals or designee developing work orders.
- Solicits priceproposals from vendors for supplies and equipment and assists with solicitingof price proposals from outside contractors.
- Instructscustodial employees on how to respond to system failures, location shut offprocedures for water, fire sprinklers, gas and electric.
- Trains assignedpersonnel for the purpose of developing professional trade and safety awarenessskills.
- Attendsin-service training (e.g. blood born pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care,first aid, etc.) for the purpose of receiving information on new and/orimproved procedures.

- Use hand tools oftrade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning andwaxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, power mower and handtools.

- Follows allapplicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use oftools and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
- Wears appropriatesafety gear, including masks.
- Must comply withschool district's chemical hygiene program and follow MSDS sheets.
