May be hired as Civil Engineer I-II, based on experience level. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience level.- Serve as project manager on civil engineering capital improvement projects.
- Implement and review traffic engineering studies and review other department plans related to traffic engineering.
- Participate in the procurement of professional services by preparing bid packages for construction, traffic, and transportation projects, hold pre-construction conferences, and review consultant pay requests.
- Review proposed land use development, with objectives to maintain traffic safety and traffic flow.
- Issues Land Disturbing Activities permits.
- Provide adequate access for land uses and condition equitable participation from new development for necessary traffic improvements.
- Make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures as applicable with respect to traffic engineering.
- Participate in the preparation and administration of the department budget.
- Attend and participate in professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a State of Georgia Fundamental of Engineering (FE) certification within 1 year of employment, or the State of Georgia Professional Engineering (PE) License within 2 years of employment, dependent upon hiring level.
