Do you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field and have at least three (3) years of government accounting experience? Consider applying for Accountant II in the Chatham County Clerk of Superior Court.
Examples of Duties
- Perform accounting work in a lead capacity to develop accounting procedures/techniques and provide lead direction, training, and work review to assigned accounting staff.
- Participate in the annual budget preparation and administration; analyzes expenditures and prepare worksheets and summaries of budget data and trends
- Assist with the preparation of annual/periodic audits, obtain information, retrieve records, prepare reports, perform research and resolve problems with the annual audit, and provide other assistance as needed for the audits.
- Review journal entries and reconcile bank accounts including reviewing and comparing general ledger, and bank statements for errors, preparing outstanding checklists, and preparing bank reconciliation reports.
- Assist in preparing the year-end financial and quarterly reports, including reconciliation of accounts and funds, preparing financial notes and statements, and reviewing finalized reports for accuracy.
- Research, interpret and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other professional accounting standards.
- Monitor AP processes until payments are completed and resolve issues with associated parties regarding PO, invoices, and payments
- Maintain records, files, and documentation related to accounting processes and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, and
- At least three (3) years of government accounting experience, including proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Suite products; or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.
Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
