Managing, maintaining, and securing an organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and software, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for business operations. Key duties include installing/configuring hardware/software, monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, managing user access, performing backups, applying security patches, and providing technical support to end-users.
As a software engineer, you will work on specific projects critical to HR1Systems' needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects due to our fast-paced business growth. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic about taking on new problems across the full stack as we continue to push technology forward.

Primary/Essential Duties And Key Responsibilities:
- System Installation & Configuration: Setting up new servers, hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac), and applications.
- Maintenance & Monitoring: Performing routine checks, applying updates/patches, optimizing performance, and analyzing system logs.
- Security Management: Implementing access controls, managing user permissions, configuring firewalls, and conducting security tests.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime.
- User Support: Assisting employees with technical queries, setting up accounts, and training on new technologies.
- Data Management: Performing regular data backups and managing file systems.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation, IT policies, and system records.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 1-3 years of experience in software development and with data structures/algorithms.
- 1-3 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- 1-3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- 1-3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms, artificial intelligence, deep learning, or natural language processing.
- Strong proficiency in R and Python, with a deep understanding of data manipulation, analysis, and machine learning workflows.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure for deploying ML models.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases for storing and retrieving large datasets.
- Experience with GitHub, version control, and experiment tracking tools (e.g., MLflow, DVC).
- Proficient in Excel (VBA coding is a plus).
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
- Versatility in working across different technologies and a willingness to learn new tools and languages as needed.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced environment.
