Key Responsibilities
- Pre-processing: Collect, clean, and prepare datasets for computational models using Python (e.g., stop word removal, stemming, lemmatization, tokenization).
- Feature Engineering & Attribute Evaluation: Apply NLP feature engineering methods (TF-IDF, word2vec, GloVe, FastText) and select evaluation protocols.
- Modeling: Select and apply classification modeling techniques (ML supervised/unsupervised, regression, neural networks, deep learning, NLP).
- Validation: Investigate, report, and justify model results.
- Visualization: Present modeling results and insights to stakeholders.
- Education: Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience: 4 years developing scalable, production-ready NLP solutions using scikit-learn, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark NLP.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAS, R, or Python for NLP (Document Summarization, NER, Sentiment Analysis, Topic Modeling). Experience with Git/GitHub, transformer architecture (BERT, GPT-J, RoBERTa, T5), and open-source NLP packages (Gensim, SpaCy, NLTK).
- Nice-to-have: GenAI/Prompt Engineering, Databricks/MLflow, machine translation (Azure), AWS cloud (Bedrock, Textract), user story coordination.
- Clearance: U.S. citizen; ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust security clearance.
