Role Overview

Project-based role for biology specialists to evaluate and enhance frontier AI models using computational biology tools. Involves building code-graded problems with verifiable numerical outputs in isolated Linux environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify computational biology packages (e.g., NEURON, Brian2, OpenSim, AMICI, MNE-Python) and design problems whose solutions depend on core tool capabilities (biophysical models, ODE/PDE systems, biomechanics, sequence algorithms).
• Develop full Python solutions with all necessary input files, model definitions, and network configurations.
• Define correct numerical outputs and appropriate tolerance values for biological context.
• Run problems against AI models across multiple parallel attempts; analyze successes/failures and adjust difficulty until pass rate is between 10% and 30%.
• Iteratively tune channel kinetics, stimulation protocols, and solver tolerances to understand AI model behavior on complex neuronal, biomechanical, and systems biology problems.
• Hand off completed tasks to senior reviewer; refine based on feedback before final submission.
  
  

Core Requirements

• Academic background in Biology or closely related field.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in biology research, applied work, or teaching.
• Solid Python skills for writing and validating computational solutions.
• Ability to build problems unsolvable without specialized computational biology software.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
