In this role, you will be responsible for designing, planting, and caring for a diverse range of botanical displays, ensuring the gardens remain lush, vibrant, and inviting year-round. Duties
- Prepare soil beds, install irrigation systems, and execute landscape designs to enhance garden aesthetics and health
- Plant, prune, fertilize, and water a wide variety of plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers with precision and care
- Maintain lawns through mowing, edging, aerating, and applying lawn care treatments to ensure pristine turf conditions
- Operate hand tools such as shovels, pruners, rakes, and spades alongside power tools like trimmers and blowers to perform routine maintenance tasks
- Manage greenhouse environments by overseeing plant propagation, growing conditions, and pest control to support seasonal displays
- Conduct regular landscape maintenance activities including weed control, mulching, fertilization, and pest management
- Monitor irrigation systems for proper functioning; troubleshoot issues promptly to conserve water and promote plant health
Experience
- Proven experience in gardening or landscaping within botanical gardens or similar environments
- Strong knowledge of horticulture principles including plant growth cycles, soil management, and sustainable practices
- Hands-on experience with irrigation systems installation and maintenance
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for landscape maintenance tasks
- Background in lawn care practices such as mowing, aeration, fertilization, and pest control
- Previous farming or agriculture experience is a plus but not mandatory; enthusiasm for cultivating plants is essential
