Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and complete simple records.
- Ability to work standing for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Understanding of basic hygiene and food safety principles.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment, preferably within healthcare or social assistance settings.
- Food handlers permit.
- Basic knowledge of healthcare facility protocols and patient dietary requirements.
- Experience using commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning machinery.
- Good communication skills to interact with kitchen staff and management.
Responsibilities:
- Wash, clean, and sanitize all kitchen utensils, equipment, and surfaces to meet health and safety standards.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients as directed by kitchen supervisors.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling processes to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Ensure stock rooms and storage areas are organized and that supplies are replenished as needed.
- Support kitchen staff by transporting food and equipment between kitchen and service areas efficiently.
- Follow all hygiene and safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the kitchen management promptly.
