Overnight shift 7pm - 7 am

  • Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physicals for all residential clients.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to the client’s specific needs.
  • Communicate with the Director of Nursing to ensure appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Assist in managing the medical department to ensure that all policies are being followed and the proper documentation is maintained.
  • Facilitates the client’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging from the facility.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Provides training and verifies competency on medical policies and procedures for Chateau Recovery staff.
  • At times, independently facilitate the operations of the Detox program.

Training and Experience:

Preferably have 1-3 year experience in Substance Abuse Nursing, Detox.

Knowledge Required:

Must have a working knowledge of general psychiatric and emergency (triage) nursing practice. Ideally should specialize in pain management, and help regulate treatment for clients addicted to drugs, alcohol, and other substances. Will consistently provide clinical supervision of all residential staff. Clinical supervision involves discussing specific cases, problems and treatment interventions with staff members on an individual or group basis.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides primary care services to clients.
  • Employ the interviewing skills needed to effectively screen for substance use and abuse history of admitting residents, while recognizing the high rate of psychiatric and medical comorbidity and how to screen clients for both.
  • Evaluate a client's stage of addiction and demonstrate how to supportively recommend substance abuse treatment.
  • Ascertain whether the client requires the attention of an M.D. (emergency room, or specialized services such as medical detox facilities, etc.).
  • Administers psychotropic and other medication to clients.
  • Responsible for the training and compliance of direct care service personnel for all medical policies. This includes but is not limited to the administering of medication, infection control, first aid, and emergency management.
  • Responsible for training and educating all incoming clients on the program's medical policies and the various medical interventions that are offered and available to them while in treatment. Tracking clients utilization of these interventions and following up with them to ensure they are being utilized.
  • Assist the Infection Control Coordinator by monitoring nosocomial infection, records infection rates, keep statistics of infection and administering the employee health program relative to infections (i.e. TB, Hepatitis). Respond and manage Chateau’s response to any infection outbreaks and communicate with the necessary health authorities to make sure Chateau's response is coordinated and in compliance.
  • Documents progress notes, admissions notes and special notes in the medical record in a timely and professional manner, in accordance with charting guidelines.
  • Responsible for making sure that the following policies are current, that the policies are being followed, and that the necessary documentation is being maintained to demonstrate compliance to these policies.

  • Medical sections of the Emergency Management Policy
  • Communicates effectively with other staff, residents, families and referrants.
  • Actively participates and contributes in the Department Head and the Performance Improvement Committees. Prepare the monthly Medical Department reports that track department performance and all performance improvement activities.
  • Completes in-service and company training requirements.
  • Responsible for tracking all billable medical events and updating the attendance tracker with the appropriate medical billing codes at least once a week.
  • Make sure that all medical responsibilities and obligations are covered by qualified staff each week. These include intakes, discharges, training and unexpected medical situations that may occur outside of normal business hours.
  • Administer employee/client Urine analysis drug screen and conduct TB screen/testing.
  • Managing your schedule to work at least a 40-hour work week and cover all required obligations.
  • Adhere to other duties as assigned.

Pay: $34.00 - $39.00 per hour
