A large public-sector organization is seeking a detail-oriented Retirement System Operations Specialist I to support its Customer Benefits team. This role focuses on processing retirement and benefits-related transactions, maintaining member records, and assisting with customer inquiries.
This is a full-time, fully remote contract opportunity ideal for candidates with administrative, benefits, or customer support experience who are comfortable working in a structured, compliance-driven environment.
Assignment Details
- Job Title: Retirement System Operations Specialist I (RSOS I)
- Location: Remote (equipment not provided)
- Duration: May 1, 2026 – November 30, 2026
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week
- Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
- Process retirement applications and approve retirements across multiple service categories.
- Research, verify, and process:
- Retirement account withdrawals
- Beneficiary designations
- Respond to member inquiries and provide support related to retirement and benefits programs.
- Maintain and update member records and track interactions in internal systems.
- Assist members by explaining benefit programs and available options.
- Prepare standard correspondence related to retirement and benefits.
- Review, scan, and upload documents, ensuring proper workflow routing.
- Maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
- Perform administrative and program support tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of at least 30 college credit hours (relevant experience may substitute)
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in:
- General office, accounting, benefits, or payroll functions
- Using a computer to research and retrieve information
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing documents.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with structured supervision.
