Retirement System Operations Specialist I (Remote)

Customer Benefits | Temporary Assignment


A large public-sector organization is seeking a detail-oriented Retirement System Operations Specialist I to support its Customer Benefits team. This role focuses on processing retirement and benefits-related transactions, maintaining member records, and assisting with customer inquiries.


This is a full-time, fully remote contract opportunity ideal for candidates with administrative, benefits, or customer support experience who are comfortable working in a structured, compliance-driven environment.


Assignment Details

  • Job Title: Retirement System Operations Specialist I (RSOS I)
  • Location: Remote (equipment not provided)
  • Duration: May 1, 2026 – November 30, 2026
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week
  • Pay Rate: $20.00/hour


Key Responsibilities

  • Process retirement applications and approve retirements across multiple service categories.
  • Research, verify, and process:
  • Retirement account withdrawals
  • Beneficiary designations
  • Respond to member inquiries and provide support related to retirement and benefits programs.
  • Maintain and update member records and track interactions in internal systems.
  • Assist members by explaining benefit programs and available options.
  • Prepare standard correspondence related to retirement and benefits.
  • Review, scan, and upload documents, ensuring proper workflow routing.
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
  • Perform administrative and program support tasks as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Completion of at least 30 college credit hours (relevant experience may substitute)
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in:
  • General office, accounting, benefits, or payroll functions
  • Using a computer to research and retrieve information
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing documents.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with structured supervision.

  • This position involves handling confidential and sensitive member information.
  • Background check required prior to start.
  • Candidates who have lived outside of Texas within the past two years may be subject to an additional federal background check.
  • This is a remote role, and candidates must provide their own computer and equipment.
