Job - Senior Financial Analyst
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension
Role Overview
This is a contract position for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst who will support core financial operations, including month-end close, forecasting, and performance analysis. The role focuses heavily on retail store financials, lease-related accounting, and business services.
You will work closely with multiple teams such as Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and smooth financial planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Month-End Close
- Handle journal entries, accrals, and account reconciliations
- Perform variance analysis to explain financial results
2. Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly financial reports
- Build management presentations and reporting decks
3. Forecasting & Planning
- Support forecasting cycles (Interim Forecast and Strategic Planning)
- Analyze both sales and expense projections
4. Financial Modeling (Anaplan)
- Maintain and update models for:
- New store openings
- Occupancy costs
- Landlord (LL) charges
- Beauty Services
5. Lease Accounting & Cash Tracking
- Work with Accounting and Treasury on IFRS 16 lease accounting
- Track lease-related cash outflows
6. Business Performance Analysis
- Monitor store-level performance
- Identify financial risks and opportunities
7. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Lead and participate in monthly review meetings
- Partner with cross-functional teams
8. Ad Hoc Analysis
- Respond to urgent or leadership-driven financial analysis requests
9. Process Improvement
- Identify ways to improve financial processes, controls, and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (FP&A preferred, ideally in retail)
- Strong understanding of:
- Month-end close
- Financial forecasting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Anaplan (strongly preferred)
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
